• Introduction to the History of Textured Hair (wavy, curly & coily hair)

• Hair Classifications & Care: for each *natural hair type 

• Products, Tools and Techniques: for modern and period styles 

• Maintenance and Aftercare: for all textured hair types

• Hair Smoothing and creative Curling Techniques

• Silk Press & Wrapping Techniques

• Plaiting: basic plaiting and braiding techniques

• Advanced Braiding Skills: canerows, cornrows and feed in braids

• Advanced Twist Techniques: 2 strand twist, flat twist and comb twist

• Other Protective Styles such as Bantu Knots

• Wig Prep: learn to prep textured hair for wigs or bald cap application

• Implementing: hair extensions, weaves and crochet hair styles

*Our BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE course is all about building strong foundations with textured hair (wavy, curly, coily). For next-level techniques (keratin treatments, relaxing, perming), see ADVANCED training - coming soon.

DENISE DOUGLAS-ARMSTRONG

Denise Douglas-Armstrong is a highly experienced hair stylist with over 40 years in the industry, specialising in Afro, curly, and coily hair.

Her extensive portfolio includes work for the BBC, ITV, BAFTA, (including high-profile clients such as Mark Owen, Mica Paris, Peter Kay, Stacy Soloman, and Dame Kelly Holmes). Denise has also worked on productions like Snog Marry Avoid, Faking It, and The Peter Waterman Experience.

Alongside her on-set work, Denise is a passionate educator and founder of award winning JT2 Hair & Nails, recognised as one of Manchester’s premium afro hair salons and continues to mentor and inspire the next generation of stylists.

AMANDA ROCHELLE

Amanda is an established hair and make-up designer with over 25 years of experience in TV, TVC, Film, Live Event & Photographic make-up. For the past 17 years she has also been an educator and mentor to students and trainees with the ambition to be successful in a competitive industry.

As well as running Make-up United Artists, an agency dedicated to providing excellence in make-up artistry and hairstyling for the screen industries, she has an academy studio in Media City, hosting masterclasses and workshops for beginners and industry pros alike.
