The Programme consists of 3 stages, which you can complete flexibly; depending on your availability. Learn at your own pace, take your time to fine tune your skills or fast-track yourself into industry with our limitless support.

TRANSFER YOUR SKILLS TO SCREEN

STAGE 1: ONLINE - THE BOOTCAMP

How do I ‘get in’ to the industry? How and where can I find work? Get the answers from leading industry experts and learn how to thrive a production; on location and on set! We run this vital programme for 6 consecutive Sunday mornings - well worth getting out of bed for!

STAGE 2: STUDIO BASED - PRACTICALS

Choose from a wide variety of workshops at the MediaCity studio; wigs, hairstyling, barbering and a broad range of make-up topics. Learn how to design and create for period or contemporary characters on screen.

STAGE 3: ONLINE - GET SET READY

The MU-Agency offer paid work and support; as well as networking events to build contacts & transition into the screen industries. Since 2018, our alumni have worked on fantastic productions across the UK and beyond.

 

STAGE 1 : ONLINE BOOTCAMP

The Bootcamp kicks off with a series of lively, weekly sessions:

  • Unique insights about working on-set or on location, etc. from experienced crew.

  • Using real scripts we breakdown scenes and learn how characterisation and continuity is created for drama.

  • Master the paperwork; storyboards, continuity notes, shoot schedules, DOODS, RAMS, etc.

There is so much to learn before you even step foot on a TV set, and this is a great way to do it!

STAGE 2: In STUDIO Workshops

Fill in your skills gaps to make you more employable. Our 2025 Workshops include:

  • Textured Hair - Care & Styling

  • Basic Hair Cutting / Barbering

  • Period Hair Styling / Period Make-up Design

  • Wig Work / Facial Hair

  • Camera Ready / Make-up for Continuity

  • Media Make-up / Male Grooming

  • Masterclasses - from industry respected designers and supervisors, etc.

STAGE 3: GET SET-READy

In studio & online - make sure you’re ready to jump into the world of Film & TV

  • Portfolios & Social Media: We will help you to craft a spectacular portfolio, showreel or a social media presence to showcases your expertise and style, attracts clients, and opens doors to new opportunities

AMANDA ROCHELLE

Amanda is an established hair and make-up designer with over 25 years of experience in TV, TVC, Film, Live Event & Photographic make-up. For the past 17 years she has also been an educator and mentor to students and trainees with the ambition to be successful in a competitive industry.

As well as running Make-up United Artists, an agency dedicated to providing excellence in make-up artistry and hairstyling for the screen industries, she has an academy studio in Media City, hosting masterclasses and workshops for beginners and industry pros alike.

CJ FAWN

CJ has worked across the UK in Film, TV, Social Media, Commercials & Events.

They are MU-A’s Marketing Manager; producing content for socials and website, as well as providing tailored media training for MU-A trainees who are looking to step up their game in the online world.

CJ enjoys helping artists grow their online following, boost engagement and develop their social media content in order to promote their skills.
